Music Kids is Chinook School of Music’s early childhood music program. We use a modern approach to music education based on current research supporting the positive role music plays on brain development. Classes are designed for children, six months to five years of age. Our students develop fundamental musical skills in a joyful and fun-filled environment.
We use an eclectic combination of instruments such as the piano, guitar, violin, drums, bells, rhythm shakers, and xylophones to teach young children listening skills, motor coordination and following musical direction. Music Kids curriculum combines traditional songs, classical melodies and original music. We provide a fundamental skill set that prepares children in their continued musical education.

In the CSM practice buddy program, our practice coaches assist students with practicing the songs that are being studied in weekly lessons. Coaches further develop student's technique and musicianship by reinforcing effective & efficient practice techniques and help students master their musical goals. Practice buddies work alongside CSM instructors to ensure musical goals are being met.
This program is ideal for families with parents who are not always able to oversee their child's practice time.
In Chinook School of Music's group violin class, children ages 4 & 5 explore the fundamentals of the violin: bow and instrument hold, names of strings, note and rhythm reading, bowing and more. This class requires a parent to be present each week to help facilitate the playing at home.
