What We Offer
Piano Lessons
Piano lessons are a popular choice at Chinook School of Music and offer a lifetime of enjoyment from playing timeless classics to pop songs. Many musicians begin their studies on piano as skills such as reading treble and bass clefs, establishing a sense of rhythm, developing an ear for harmony and building coordination easily transfer to other instruments.
Students may choose to prepare for Royal Conservatory of Music examinations or follow an individualized path exploring contemporary, jazz, pop and more. Learning opportunities include Piano Club or our Masterclass series. The recommended age to begin piano lessons is age 5. Learn more: Piano Parents - Is Your Child Set Up For Musical Success
Music Kids Private Lessons
Music Kids private lessons combine foundational music skills with the fun and creativity of the Music Kids curriculum. Designed for pre-reading children, lessons incorporate singing, movement, piano and rhythm based activities.
After one year, families are better able to identify the best instrument for their child as they transition into instrument-specific private lessons.
Vocal Lessons
Learn to sing Broadway, Pop, Classical, Opera, Folk, Jazz and more with our experienced vocal instructors. Lessons are available for students ages six through adulthood and focus on healthy vocal technique, expanding vocal range and expressive singing.
Voice lessons include technique, repertoire development and confidence building in a supportive and encouraging environment.
Vocal and Piano Combo Lessons
These combo lessons are ideal for young beginners, offering an engaging introduction to both piano and vocal technique. After one to two years, students are encouraged to transition into lessons dedicated for each instrument.

“As an adult, I truly appreciate how welcoming Chinook School of Music is to individuals of all musical backgrounds. No matter where I’ve been in my musical journey, I’ve always felt supported and encouraged. My instructor is kind and patient always. I’ve recommended the school to many.”
“My instructor is a true professional and a pleasure to work with. I started learning guitar with him when I was in my 60’s and if it wasn’t for his motivational teaching skills I would have stopped a long time ago.”
Recitals, Festivals, Masterclasses
At Chinook School of Music we believe that performing is essential to building a strong foundation for musical growth. That’s why we offer a variety of performance and educational opportunities from intimate masterclasses to full-scale recitals where students can perform, receive feedback and develop as confident, capable musicians.
The Performance Masterclass Series
The Performance Masterclass Series is our student’s first performance opportunity each school year. Participants perform a musicial selection and receive constructive feedback with a focus on technique, interpretation and stage presence. These sessions take place in a small, supportive setting, giving students a chance to gain confidence and experience in performing. The series is open to all levels from beginner to advanced and is held in late fall.
Chinook Celebration of Music Festival
This non-competitive festival is open to students of all instruments and skill levels starting at age 5. Participants are grouped by age and level and perform a musical selection for an experienced adjudicator who provides both written and verbal feedback. The festival takes place in March.
Spring Recitals
Spring recitals are a highlight of the school year, giving students the chance to showcase their hard work and dedication to friends and family. Performances take place in a theatre with a full production team. Spring recitals are scheduled in June.
