Established in 2005, Music Kids is Chinook School of Music’s early childhood music program for ages six months to five years. Our modern approach to music education integrates scientific research supporting the positive role that music plays on brain development and emotional regulation. Join our circle of fun as we move and play instruments while developing fundamental music skills.

Explore the fundamentals of violin playing in this beginner group class. Our young musicians learn essential skills and techniques such as bowing, note reading and rhythm comprehension in a supportive and engaging learning environment.

A parent/caregiver is required to attend each class.

What could possibly be more fun than making music with your child? This beginner class offers a special opportunity to connect through the joy of learning ukulele together. Explore strumming, rhythm, melody and chords. Build a collection of songs to perform and play together!

Learning Ukulele Together is designed for children ages 5&6 along with a parent/caregiver.

Discover the joy of playing the ukulele! Learn strumming, chording, rhythm and note learning. Children build a songbook of fun repertoire to share with friends and family.

Many students opt to enroll in multiple sessions of Beginner Group Ukulele for the ultimate learning experience. Each session introduces new songs, chords, skills and techniques.

Registration will close after the third week of each session.

Develop your musical artistry and grow your confidence in performing! Piano and Song Club is available for all students enrolled in private piano and/or voice lessons. In each session, musicians perform a musical selection and receive insightful feedback. Learn how to tell a story with your music, enhance your listening skills and discover new dimensions of creative expression.

With a focus on singing, characterization and choreographed movement, this program combines the best aspects of drama and music! This program is designed for those new to the guitar, providing a solid foundation for further musical development.

Rock Bands at Chinook School of Music feature vocalists, guitarists, bassists, drummers, keyboardists and saxophonists. We offer two levels: Junior Rock Band for ages 10-12 and Teen Rock Band for ages 12 and up. Musicians are guided through the process of selecting and arranging music, developing collaboration skills and gaining valuable performance experience. Students showcase their talents on stage at the end of each session.

Welcome to Indie Performance where students develop performance skills, enhance their stage presence and expand their musical artistry. Musicians are encouraged to find their own unique sound and explore different musical genres and styles. Our musicians showcase their skills on stage at open mic nights in popular venues in the city. Designed for intermediate/advanced vocalists, guitarists, bassists, drummers, keyboardists and saxophonists, Adult Rock Band offers a chance to jam, grow and perform. Musicians are guided through the process of selecting and arranging music, refining collaboration skills and honing performance techniques. A live performance takes place at the end of each session.

Perform jazz standards by legends like Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, Ella Fitzgerald and more. Whether you are new to jazz or a seasoned player looking to get back into it, our supportive environment will help you develop your skills in style, improvisation, performance, and collaboration.

Intermediate /advanced instrumentalists - piano, bass, drums, guitar, saxophone, clarinet, flute, and trumpet are welcome!

This program is designed for intermediate to advanced level musicians.

Our mock examinations are set up to simulate an actual Royal Conservatory of Music exam with the exception that a mark is not given. Students are provided with written feedback in each area of the exam. Verbal feedback is provided at the end of the session. Tips are given to each student on how they can further prepare and perform their very best for their upcoming exams
