Ellie Kim, Piano
Ellie is a passionate and dedicated pianist and teacher who began her musical journey at the age of 4 and has over 20 years of experience in music. She has won multiple awards in national competitions and earned her Bachelor of Music from Korea Baptist Theological University in 2022.
Following graduation, Ellie performed as a guest artist in recitals across Korea, worked as an orchestral accompanist, and played as an ensemble pianist. She also ran her own music studio for three years in Korea, gaining extensive teaching experience with students of all ages. As an RCM Certified Teacher, she has guided her students to achieve excellent results.
Ellie is known for her strong emotional connection with her students and her dedication to their growth. She is committed to helping students of diverse abilities improve their skills and fostering a lifelong love of music
Erika Borglum, Voice, Beginner Piano
Erika Borglum is a vocal coach as well as singer, songwriter and musician with over 14 years of experience studying music, and being on stage. She recently graduated with honours from MacEwan University with a diploma in Vocal Performance from the Jazz and Contemporary music program. She has taken advanced courses in Music Theory, Ear Training, Vocal Health, and has vast experience with a variety of genres including Folk, Jazz, Country, Blues, Musical Theatre, R&B, Pop, Rock, and more.
Erika has established a successful career in the Calgary music scene as a gigging musician and singer/songwriter under the name “Erika Mae” and has had the opportunity to write and record music in Nashville. Her music has been featured on a variety of radio stations across Canada, and she frequently performs at many venues in and around Calgary and Edmonton.
With a strong passion for music and years of experience in taking music lessons and performing, Erika values a judgement free environment in which students of all ages can hone their skills. Erika has the ability to teach in a variety of styles and genres, and can also assist students in becoming more comfortable and confident performers. In her lessons you will learn proper vocal technique, breathing technique, warm up and cool down exercises, and how to connect with songs meaningfully and with dynamics to enhance your performance
Herbert Wang, Piano
Born in China, Yi Zhi (Herbert) received his early musical training in Calgary, starting at age 5, and earned his ARCT in Piano Performance in 2024. As an active performer, Herbert has appeared on different stages across Calgary, from the 2026 RBC Calgary Philharmonic Concerto Competition Finals to Honens Piano Day celebrations. Herbert has also appeared on stages in Italy, playing Chopin’s Piano Concerto in E Minor with the IPPA Conero International Festival Orchestra, and in France, performing at L’église de la Madeleine in Paris.
Having grown up in a multicultural environment, Herbert speaks both Mandarin and English fluently and has a strong interest in modern Chinese musical repertoire. Herbert has a flexible approach to teaching and aims to find the best method for each student, allowing each student to find their most efficient way of learning.
